The Forest - Descriptive Writing by Raveena

Three months ago, I wandered around the colossal forest and witnessed a gem-blue stream near a mountain. It was gushing over the roads, at its widest point, it was surging and plunging the mountain. The flowers next to it were nodding gently and they had a honey-sweet smell.

I started to explore the woods and I heard ominous sounds; it felt like the trees were whispering. I had to take a long wooden stick as I went lurking through thick bushes.

The air in the forest smelled tantalizing indeed. It smelled just like damp moss. When I was walking around the twisted and narrow path through the jungle I noticed a variety of small and huge animals which often would be rooted to the ground or immediately runs away.

Two days ago, I was watching the news and I witnessed a tragic event. All most half of the forest had been lost due to deforestation. My eyes were filled with tears and agony. It showed some people taking tyrannical tractors just like the size of a T-Rex and others were holding jagged saws. The place was completely annihilated, it was like a huge darkness rained over me that night and I knew there was no way I could have stopped it from happening.

The very next day, I packed my peculiar suitcases and went to visit the forest. It was a prolonged journey and I felt lifeless thinking about the forest, when I arrived there was an awkward silence. Usually, I would see birds and animals making various sounds but today there was a deafening silence. The trees which stood as tall as towers were short as stumps. A heartbreaking pungent smell of death filled the air as it surged the destruction and devastation that had befallen them all. The ground crumbled like sand under my feet as I trudged another step towards the summit looking below, the trees were dots to my squinting eyes in the mid-day heat.

Beating down upon my back the sun was relentless as I wiped the drips of salty sweat from my neck. I couldn’t bare another moment in this forest so, I took a fresh organic plant and planted it on the soil. I hoped that this could be a ray of sunshine to the forest for the animals who lost their habitats and I prayed hoping more people would come and do this to regain our forest again.
